Escambia County Emergency Agency Director David Adams said there will be an increasing threat of severe thunderstorms across the region this afternoon and into the evening hours.
“A frontal boundary over north Alabama early this afternoon is expected to move south toward and then across our area this afternoon, and then offshore this evening,” Adams said. “There is an extremely moist and unstable air mass over our area in advance, and as the front moves south, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be developing and moving south across our area this afternoon. Storms have been developing over the past hour or so over northern Alabama, increasing confidence of more widespread storms down our way later this afternoon.”
Adams said a broken line of showers and storms will move into the area from the north in the late afternoon and continue to the coast in the early evening.
