2 in runoff for District 2 seat
Robinson, Webster in Oct. 4 decider
Jerome Webster and Russell Robinson will be in a runoff for the District 2 seat of the Atmore city council in October.
Voters went to the only poll in Atmore’s municipal election, where four were vying for the soon-to-be vacant seat from Cornell Torrance.
Webster garnered 72 votes, and Robinson had 56.
Michael Arnold finished with 32 votes, and Johnnie Jones had 22.
“I want to thank my campaign staff for helping me,” Robinson said. “I fought a good fight. I’m looking forward to continuing and I have a lot of good ideas I want to share with the people.
“I’ll continue to talk with the people, and get ideas from them as well,” he said.
Webster said it was a good election.
“It was an experience I won’t forget,” Webster said. “I’d like to thank first God and then my family, and all of my support.”
Of the 983 residents in District 2, only 182, or 19 percent voted in the municipal election.
The runoff election is set for Tues., Oct. 4.
