BOE makes personnel changes

The Escambia County Board of Education approved the following personnel recommendations at its Aug. 18 meeting:


• Erica Poindexter, as speech language pathologist at A.C. Moore Elementary, effective Aug. 17, 2016;

• Jessica Little, as library aide at Escambia County Middle, effective Aug. 19;

• Ashley Salter, as physical education (PE) teacher at Flomaton Elementary, effective Aug. 10;

• Maurice Etheridge, as bus driver at the Atmore Bus Shop, effective Aug. 5;

• Gina Nall, as junior varsity cheerleader coach at Flomaton High, effective Aug. 5;

• Regina Taylor, as special education teacher, at Escambia County High, effective Aug. 8;

• Paige Reynolds, as science teacher at ECMS, effective Aug. 16;


• Karen Flowers, as secretary/bookkeeper at Rachel Patterson Elementary to office aid at RPES, effective Aug. 10;

• Charles Metzler, as part time grass cutter at Atmore Maintenance Department to seven-hour custodian at ECMS, effective Aug. 22 (replacing Torris Richardson);


• Aurbina Bowen, as English/language arts teacher at Escambia County Alternative School, effective Aug. 15 (replacing Keiana White);

• Caroline Coleman, as six-hour lunchroom worker at FES, effective Aug. 22 (replacing Courtney Harrison);

• Paige Reynolds, as science teacher at ECMS, effective Aug. 8 (replacing Carole Burleson);

• Ashley Knowles, as special education teacher at ECMS, effective Aug. 15 (replacing Aprell Knight);

• Sharon Lambeth, as elementary teacher at Pollard-McCall Junior High School, effective Aug. 9;

• Joy Eady, as elementary teacher at PMJH, effective Aug. 9 (replacing Tammy Bonds);

• Amanda Blackburn, as bus driver at the Atmore Bus Shop, effective Aug. 19 (replacing Erin Easterling);

• Joseph McMurphy, as bus driver at the Atmore Bus Shop, effective Aug. 19 (replacing Maurice Etheridge);

• Sharon Morgan, as special education teacher at FHS, effective Aug. 19 (replacing Swan Chavers);

• Pam Sheets, as bus driver at Brewton Bus Shop, effective Aug. 19 (replacing Thomas Phifer);

• Isaac Johnson, as summer maintenance custodian at ECHS, effective July 5 (replacing Travon Williams); and,

Temporary Employment

• Ellen Ates, as seven-hour custodiam at ECMS, effective Aug. 9 (replacing Ollie Jones).

In other business, the board:

• approved to revise the 2016-17 salary schedule athletic supplements for the change in AHSAA classifications for ECHS and FHS;

• approved to extend the bid for transportation fuel for one year;

• sought permission to pursue a bus purchase financing to maximize the fleet renewal eligibility; and,

• approved the negotiation of a principal contract for Scott Hammonds at FHS for a three-year period, effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019.
