APD: Case remains under investigation

An Atmore juvenile was shot in the leg early Sunday morning near Brooks Lane, according to Police Chief Chuck Brooks.

Brooks said the APD received a call at 1:13 a.m. Sunday from the Atmore Community Hospital in reference to a subject being shot.

“The individual was shot in the leg,” Brooks said. “According to (the juvenile), he was over on Brooks Lane when shots were fired from, we’re thinking, a vehicle and struck him in the leg.”

Brooks said the case is still pending and under investigation.

Brooks said he thinks the juvenile was transported to ACH by private vehicle.

“That’s the reason we got called,” he said. “They want to let us know they had a gun shot victim in the (emergency room).”

At present, the APD is working hard on the case, Brooks said.

The name of the juvenile wasn’t released due to the juvenile’s age.
