Tropical wave 99L has become Tropical Depression 9 and is located in the southeast Gulf of Mexico. It could strengthen to a tropical storm today or tonight. The forecast track issued by the National Weather Service has the storm continuing movement to the west-northwest, then turning to the north and eventually turning to the northeast and making landfall somewhere in the Big Bend area of Florida. A small change in the track could make the storm impact the central gulf coast.
