Albert Jeff Ross

Albert Jeff Ross, 81, of Atmore, passed away on Fri., Oct. 21, 2016, at his residence.

He was a retired corrections officer for the Alabama Department of Corrections for over 35 years of service, and was born on March 26, 1935 in Atmore to the late Albert Leigh and Ardell Mitchell Ross. A member of the Sons of the Confederacy, Alabama Department of History Archives, Member of Escambia County Alabama Historical Society, he Worked closely with Alabama Department of Conservation Enforcement Officers.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Ida Hall.

Survivors are a devoted and faithful friend, Norma Homan of Rabon; niece,

Sandra (David) Sommerman of Marietta, Ga.; great nephews, Andrew and Matthew

Sommerman; two special first cousins, Lucille Peacock of Little Rock and Wade Ross of California; a host of cousins; and friends.

Services will be held today, Wed., Oct. 26, 2016, at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Canoe, with Bro. Waylon Stuckey officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Alabama Department of Correction Enforcement Officers, Frank Reid, Steve Lawson, David Smith, Kenneth Blalock, and Mitch Johnson.

Family will receive friends today at The First Baptist Church of Canoe from 1 p.m. until service time.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of all arrangements.

Linda Diann Byrd

Mrs. Linda Diann Byrd, 65, passed away on Wed., Oct. 19, 2016, in Foley.

She was a native of Charleston, W.V., former resident of McDavid and Cantonment, Fla. and has resided in Foley for the past five years. She volunteered at church for the food service, she loved to sing gospel music for the past 30 years and she was a member of the New Life in Christ Church of Foley.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Myles William Byrd.

She is survived by her husband, Darryl Bruce Prince of Foley; two daughters, Donna Kay (Thomas) Carroll of Pollard and Dianna Kay (Michael) Wolfe of Brewton; two brothers, Bobby Rice of Fresno, Calif. and Donnie Rice of Anniston; two sisters, Judy of Ohio and Peggy Davenport of Prattville; four grandchildren, Wendy (Jason) Covan, Tracy (Chris) McCurdy, Hunter Godwin and Dusty Carnley; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Covan and Cheyanna Covan.

Graveside services were held Fri., Oct. 21, 2016, from the Beulah Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. John Lloyd officiating.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.

Linda Darnell Martin

Ms. Linda Darnell Martin, 53, of Bay Minette, passed away Oct. 20, 2016, in Fayetteville, N.C.

She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Bay Minette.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Mayberry Funeral Home.

Norris McNeil Marshall

Mr. Norris McNeil Marshall, 86, a resident of Mobile, passed away on Oct. 20, 2016, in Mobile.

Funeral services will be held at noon today, Wed., Oct. 26, 2016, from the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile with the Rev. Dr. Clyde Maye Jr. officiating. Interment will be held in Whispering Pine Cemetery on Eight Mile Road.

Mayberry Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
