Driving the open road feels theraputic

There’s something about driving that makes me feel good.
Whether it’s the length of the journey or the feeling of being on the open road, driving is so much fun, to me.
Recently, I had to drive our box truck to pick up our newspapers in Andalusia, and the journey was something.
With our circulation manager in the passenger seat, we set off from Atmore.
We stopped a couple times to collect un-purchased papers and made it to Andalusia in good time.
After a short while and getting the papers loaded onto the truck, we started to make our journey back here with stops in Brewton, Century and McDavid, Fla. and Flomaton before our final destination at The Atmore Advance. Along with our paper, we have to pick up and deliver The Brewton Standard to their carriers as well.
On the way to our stops in Florida, we noticed we were low on fuel.
After a short discussion, we chanced it and ended up making it back to Atmore without filling up. I made sure to fill the tank up the next day.
We got back at around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, and it took me a while to go to bed, which isn’t unusual for me after a long drive.
Maybe just being out on the road, driving from one destination to the next is what makes it fun for me.
If you see me on the road somewhere, know I’ve got a destination in mind and am enjoying the experience.
