Jordan, White win county judges races

64% voter turnout in county

With a healthy local voter turnout on Election Tuesday, Escambia County Circuit Judge Dave Jordan was elected to another term.

Jordan, the incumbent, beat Jim Hart by a wide margin 9,871-5,019.

In the district judge’s race, Incumbent Jeff White beat Eric Coale 8,518-6,485.

For County Commissioner District 2, Incumbent Raymond Wiggins beat Rodney Butts by 818 votes at 1,985-1,067.

The county turnout for the General Election was approximately 64 percent, County Probate Judge Doug Agerton said.

“We had a great turnout,” Agerton said.

Agerton said some voter turnout records took place at some polling stations in the county, including McCall with a total of 511 votes, New Order Church in Atmore, and Nokomis with 600.

County Republican Party Chairman Shane Hadley said Nokomis averages 200 votes.

On Tuesday, Nokomis had a total of 432 ballots cast.

Agerton said the last time a big voter turnout took place such as this year’s was four years ago.

Agerton thanked his staff, circuit clerk and the election officials for running an efficient election this year.

The county voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton, 10,282-4,698.
