Escambia Academy beat Northview 44-26 in its season opener Monday night.

The Lady Cougars held a healthy lead at halftime, but NHS bounced back with a small run on some fast breaks on offense.

However, EA kept control of the game by getting into its groove on the court down the stretch.

Lady Cougars coach Cale Thompson said the girls have bought into the system, and found their mojo.

“They play their butts off,” he said.

Cassidy Murphy led EA with 15 points. Alia Snow chipped in 10, and Ashlyn Glick contributed with eight points.

Northview’s Autumn Albritton led the Lady Chiefs with eight points and three rebounds; D. Fountain had seven points and two rebounds; and T. Ridmon had five points and nine rebounds.

Thompson said the girls want to make sure that the crowd gets its money’s worth this season.

“I told them to be ‘Showtime at the Apollo,’” he said.
