Holiday season provided new memories

White-knuckling my way down Interstate 65 through a storm on Sunday, one thought kept crossing my mind – this holiday season went great.
As I made my way back to Fairhope from Montgomery, rain pounded my car and caused traffic to slow. I put on my hazzard lights and slowed to around 50 miles per hour. My wipers were going crazy.
Sometimes driving through the rain is OK, but this was different.
All the way from Montgomery, it rained.
While concentrating on the road – when I could see it – my thoughts shifted back to over the holiday season.
My holiday started in Mobile at the Dollar General Bowl, where Troy topped Ohio 28-23. Then, Christmas Eve arrived and I spent the next three days in Fairhope with my parents and friends.
Once I returned to Atmore, and getting back into sort of a rhythm, the next day’s duty of putting the paper together wasn’t as bad. Working ahead is always on the plan for me.
The week before New Year was a light one, however, I did get some work done for the coming paper and other projects.
Last Saturday, I traveled to Montgomery to ring in the New Year with one of my best friends. I had a great time in spite of the rain.
My holiday wrapped, as I said earlier, in Fairhope, where my brother’s family came down for a visit. My other brother was in town, too.
I’m blessed to have gotten to see them for a short time and for the memories of another great holiday season.
