A Sonic Drive-In is coming to Atmore, according to officials.

The well-known drive-in eatery will be located on Hwy. 21, just north of Hardees, near the interstate, Mayor Jim Staff said Tuesday.

Staff said Sonic put a $500,000 down on the property, which hasn’t been paid for.

Staff said Sonic officials are looking to serve food from the restaurant by the end of February.

“All we have are the plans,” Staff said. “We’re just waiting on the money. They haven’t paid for the property, yet.”
