The Atmore City Council on Monday approved Resolution 2017-02, which authorizes Mayor Jim Staff to execute and deliver a statutory warranty deed to SDI Investments, LLC as Assignee of Alabama Sound Investments Inc., in relation to a deal that would bring a Sonic Drive-In restaurant to Atmore’s Rivercane development site near Interstate 65.

The Advance reported last week that, while the property has not yet been completely paid off, $500,000 had been put toward the price; however, Staff said the total amount put down was $5,000.

While Staff said last week the property has not yet been fully paid for, he added officials are hoping the restaurant will be serving food by the end of February.
