Christina “Chrissy” Ordis
Mrs. Christina “Chrissy” Ordis, 34, passed away on Thurs., Feb. 23, 2017, in Milton, Fla.
She was a native of Pensacola, Fla., former resident of Century, Fla. and had resided in Milton for the past three years. She was a wonderful mother and of the Baptist Faith.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Wiley and Margaret Ordis, and Ethel Robbins; aunt, Katherine Barrow; and uncle, John Flowers.
She is survived by her father, Ronnie (Lynn) Ordis of Camp Hill; mother, Celeste (Bo) Morris of Milton; three sons, Dylan Ordis of Camp Hill, Caden Ordis of Camp Hill and Dennis Blake Mathis of Milton; one daughter, Jasmine Ordis of Camp Hill; and one brother, Ronnie Eugene (Hannah Davidson) Ordis Jr. of Milton.
Funeral services were held Feb. 26 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial followed at the Pinebarren Cemetery.
Visitation was held Feb. 26 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Luke Brown, Zac Sims, Thomas Ordis, Christopher Ordis, Samuel Ordis and Jared Ordis.
Honorary Pallbearers were Terry Ordis and Jerry Ordis.
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.
Harold McElhaney
Mr. Harold McElhaney, 75, passed away on Thurs., Feb. 23, 2017, in Atmore.
He was a native and former resident of Bratt, Fla. and has resided in Atmore most of his life. He was the owner and operator of Wayside Grocery for 27 years, an expert fisherman and avid Alabama fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey McElhaney and Vira Hadley.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Couch of Atmore; four stepsons, Aubrey (Natasha) Rolin of Atmore, Johnny Steadham of Atmore, Bryan (Lynda) Couch of Atmore and Danny (Tammy) Couch of Ashboro, N.C.; two brothers, Darrell (Sherry) McElhaney of McLean, Va. and William (Christina) Hadley of Atmore; 12 step-grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one great niece.
Funeral services were held Feb. 27 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Lee Rolin and Bro. Darrell McElhaney serving as officiates.
Burial followed at the Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.
Visitation was held Feb. 26 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Tinker Rolin, Johnny Steadham, Bryan Couch, Danny Couch, Brent Dorough and Dalphin Gohagan.
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC was in charge of all arrangements.
JoAnn Bowen
Mrs. JoAnn Bowen, 68, of Uriah, passed away on Mon., Feb. 13, 2017, at her home.
She was born in Mobile and had been a longtime resident of Monroe County. She owned and operated a beauty shop for many years. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Frisco City.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Douglas Caylor; and her grandparents, Doll and Clarence Snow.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Bowen; three children, Michelle Bowen, Sherry (Mike) Rolin and Jerry Wayne (Dawn) Bowen; her mother, Lois (Charles) Murphy; one sister, Alene Puckett; one brother, Larry Ward; 11 grandchildren, Justin (Christa) Coleman, Austin Coleman, JoCaylor Rolin, Chasen (Jesslyn) Rolin, Tysen (Blaze) Rolin, Dawson Martin, Colton (Tiffany) Bowen, Taylor Bowen, Hannah Bowen, Bryson Bowen and Greyson Bowen; eight great-grandchildren, Jamison Coleman, Kinzey Coleman, Masen Bailey, Tylen Bailey, Gaston Rolin, Aubree Rolin, Annison Rolin and Ansleigh Jo Rolin; and two step-children, Crystal Hanks (Lance) Booker and Criston Hanks (David) Collins.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 16 at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony McMillian and the Rev. Cornelius Phillips serving as officiates. Burial followed in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation was held Feb. 15 at the funeral home.

Mattie B. Fagin
Ms. Mattie B. Fagin, 84, of Atmore, died Tues., Feb. 21, 2017, at Crowne Health Care in Mobile.
She was a native of Castleberry and a resident of Atmore for most of her life. She worked in hotel housekeeping, private home duty and for years at Buster’s restaurant in Atmore.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Fagin, Clarence Fagin and Rufus Fagin, all of Atmore; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sat., March 4, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Escambia Point Activity Center with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.
