Northview’s Ohijie Elliott, Chase Olsen and M.J. Jones qualified for the 2017 FHSAA Class 1A State Weightlifting Meet in Deland, Fla.

The weightlifting meet is slated for this Sat., April 8 at Deland High School.

Elliott will be competing in the 154-pound weight class and currently has the seventh highest total in the state in his class.

Olsen will compete in the 169-pound class, and has the 13th highest total.

Jones will compete in the 139-pound class with the 13th highest total.

At the state meet, the top six lifters place.

NHS coach Derek Marshman said the lifters qualified after hitting personal best totals at the regional weightlifting meet and placing in the top six to become eligible for state.

This is the first time three lifters are advancing to state from NHS since four did so in 2000.
