Atmore Mayor Jim Staff read a proclamation recognizing a local group affiliated with the Corporation of National Community Service at the city council meeting on Monday.

The CNCS is a recognized volunteer educational program, and the recognition comes days after the National Day of Service, which was April 4.

Most of the local members are with the Atmore Community Hospital Auxiliary.

In other business, the council:

• approved Councilwoman Susan Smith to be a voting delegate for the League of Municipalities Convention; and,

• approved the appointment of Harold Dailey, and the reappointment of Kenny Smith and Debbie Rowell to the planning board.
