ECHS BBQ contest is April 22

Timothy Bartley of team Sneak Creek won first place in the pork category of the Monroeville Barbecue Contest last weekend in Monroeville.

Bartley was one point away from winning the grand championship.

Team Sneak Creek of Atmore will try again on April 22 for the Escambia County High School Barbecue Contest at Tom Byrne Park.

Organizers said they expect almost 20 teams from around the state to compete.

Lunches will be served for $10 on Saturday.

On the night before, April 21, there will be a VIP tasting. Tickets are $25 for one person, and $40 for a couple.

Tickets for the VIP and lunch on Saturday are available at ECHS.
