NHS athletes qualify for regional meet

Fifteen Northview track and field athletes qualified for the Florida High School Athletic Association’s Class 1A regional meet.

The regional meet will be held on Tues., April 25, in Jacksonville, Fla. The meet is a qualifying round for the state meet.

“The boy’s team has done really well this year, placing second one time at a T.R. Miller meet,” Track coach Barbara Luker said.

Luker said the boys placed third in another meet against larger schools and second at the Jay Invitational.

She said the girls team has overcome some challenges and done well, too.

“They have placed fourth at two T.R. Miller meets and the Jay Invitational,” she said. “We are really proud of both teams and the effort, and time they have committed to this year’s season.”
The following are those NHS athletes who qualified for regionals:

• Nene Findley and Crystal Douglas — girls 100-meter and 200-meter dash

• Myshia Syria — girls 400-meter dash

• Audriene Odom — girls 100-meter hurdles

• Odom, Douglas, Findley and Celeste North — girls 4×100-meter dash

• Odom, Douglas, Findley and Syria — girls 4×400-meter dash

• Brandon Spencer and Joseph Wright — boys 100 and 200-meter dash

• Brandon Korinchak — boys 800 and 1600-meter runs

• Josiah Stilwell — boys 3200-meter run

• Tim Bush, Keaton Solmonson, Joseph Wright and Spencer — boys 4×100-meter dash

• Korinchak, Spencer, Daniel Merritt and Bush — boys 4×400 meter dash

• Korinchak, Oscar Rodriguez, Stilwell and Tyrese Smith — boys 4×800-meter dash

• Bush — boys high jump

• Rayvon Bush — boys triple jump

• Dillon Clary — boys shot put
