R’ Jamon Jaquan Buford Jr.

Infant R’ Jamon Jaquan Buford Jr. passed away at Children’s Hospital in Mobile.

Funeral services will be graveside at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Thurs., May 11, 2017, at Prichard Memorial Cemetery in Eight Mile.

John Calvin Davis Sr.

John Calvin Davis Sr., 91, of Davisville, Fla., passed away Fri., May 5, 2017 at his residence.

He retired after 38 years of service from St. Regis-Champion Paper Mill. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, was a mason for over 50 Years, a 32nd degree Scottish rite and a member of Pine Barren Baptist Church. Mr. John loved his family dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer J. and Nellie Dove Davis; two brothers;

and two sisters.

Survivors are his wife of 72 years, Mrs. Jean Eloise Steadham Davis of Davisville; two sons, John C. (Lynn) Davis Jr. of Atmore and Benjamin E. ( Dottie) of Walnut Hill,

Fla.; four grandchildren, “Little John” Calvin (Sandy) Davis III of Atmore, Anna Davis

(Christopher) Barry of Cantonment, Fla. Lacey Davis (Travis) Suits of Orange City, Fla. and Clinton E. Davis of Cantonment; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jimmy Douglas (Sharon) Davis of Davisville.

Services were held May 9 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Harper officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors.

Active pallbearers were “Little John” Davis, Clint Davis, Travis Suits, Chris Barry,  Brian Davis and Oscar Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Sunday School Class, Raymond Norris, Ralph Darby, Marcus Ferguson, Branson Holt, James Calvin Bolton, Mickey Peterson, Edward Hudson, Bernie Edwards and Daryl Andress.

Family received friends May 8 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.

 

Lucy D. Sledge

Mrs. Lucy D. Sledge, 81, a resident of Bay Minette passed away May 8, 2017 in a local hospital.

She was a faithful member of The Magnolia Baptist Church of Bromley.

Funeral services will be held Sat., May 13, at 1 p.m. at Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church in Bromley.

Internment will be held at Crossroads Cemetery in Hurricane, Ala.

Myrtle Ann Rolin

Mrs. Myrtle Ann Rolin, 68, passed away Tues., May 2, 2017, in Pensacola, Fla.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Century, Fla. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved gardening, canning, dancing and the outdoors.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Rolin; and brothers, Ray Walston and Charles Walston.

She is survived by her boyfriend, James Ray Foster of Century; two sons, Matthew (Tonya) Rolin of Flomaton and Tracy (Denise) Rolin of Flomaton; one daughter, Tabitha (Tracy) Tedder of Century; two brothers, Donald Wayne Walston of Milton, Fla. and Paul Walston of Walnut Hill, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 7, 2017, from Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial followed at the Beulah Cemetery.

Visitation was held May 6 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Matthew Rolin, Tracy Rolin, Tracy Tedder, Chris Rolin, Justin Rolin and Michael Tedder.

Honorary pallbearers were Colby Taylor and Roosevelt Dixon.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.

 

Shirley Lassitter White

Shirley Lassitter White, 74, of Atmore, passed away Tues., May 2, 2017, in Fairhope.

She was a clothing inspector for Vanity Fair Mills, and was born in Atmore on Feb. 14, 1943 to the late Robert Jack and Ada Bell Wall Lassitter.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Ray White and siblings, Comer Lee

Lassitter, Carnis O. Lassitter, Milford Lassitter, Rubert Lassitter, Marshall Lassitter, Grace Mire, Sue Cumbie and Carol Sawyer.

Survivors are one son, Mark (Michelle) White of Atmore; one daughter, Sherry (Eddie) Rider of Loxley; four grandchildren, Britney, Tiffany, Christopher and Victoria; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Russell (Maxine) Lassitter of Atmore.

Services were held May 4 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Wood officiating. Interment followed in Booneville Baptist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Drake McGhee, Dalton Walker, Thomas Holley, Billy Byrd, Rusty Lassitter, and Terry Cumbie. Honorary pallbearers were Eugene (Kookie) Lassiter and Alan Wall.

Family received friends May 3 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Terrell D. Deese

Funeral service for Infant Terrell D. Deese, 3 months old, will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel LLC.

Infant Deese fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Sun., May 7, 2017 in Atmore.
