FAA awards $150K+ grant to help build fuel pump facility at airport

The Federal Aviation Administration awarded a $150,618 grant to the Atmore Municipal Airport to fund the construction of a single pump fuel facility and airport improvements, according to Rep. Bradley Byrne’s office.

The grant project will fund the construction of the pump facility to assist the airport to be as self-sustaining as possible.

“Airports are a critical part of our transportation system, and they also play a key role in economic development,” Byrne said in a statement. “This grant will allow Atmore to make important improvements to their facilities. I want to thank Secretary Chao and the Department of Transportation for partnering with us on this grant, and I look forward to continuing our work to improve infrastructure in southwest Alabama.”

Atmore Municipal Airport is a general aviation airport, designated as a basic, as defined in the FAA’s National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) report.
