Annual gathering was a fantastic time

Under a dense, bright canopy of stars, my father and my two brothers marveled at what we were seeing.
Last weekend, we met in North Carolina for our now annual gathering, and it was a fantastic time.
Dad and I drove up Wednesday night; my other brothers came into two Thursday and Friday.
Once we were all together, the weekend really started to ramp up.
After a late Friday night dinner, we got up Saturday and made a plan. Our family loves making plans for activities during the day. I like making plans for everything because it comforts me.
We visited a couple of local microbreweries and other spots and trekked it back to the house to nap and watch the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open is a PGA event and called a major, which is one of four big tournaments that are held each year.
The U.S. Open is always held on the weekend of Father’s Day.
We got our fill of golf for the day and started to get dinner in a direction. Dinner included quite a spread of beef, green beans, baked potatoes, tomatoes and some good wine my brother brought with him. Hands down, it was the best meal of the weekend.
Last year, when we got together, we ended the weekend with some nice libations and some cigars. I don’t smoke cigars very often believe me.
As I was writing this column, my father was giving a recap of the last night to my mother.
The way he described it, in my opinion, summed up how excellent the weekend was.
I am very grateful for my parents and them allowing me to have shelter on our property in N.C.
I am very grateful for them allowing us to get together for some new memories each year.
