Russell Robert Brown

Mr. Russell Robert Brown, 62, passed away on Thurs., June 29, 2017, in Atmore.

He was a native and former resident of Cobleskill, N.Y. and has resided in Atmore for the past seven years. He had a mechanical background, was a jack-of-all trades and was of the Methodist Faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Eleanor Brown; and a sister, Lorraine Brown.

He is survived by two sons, John William Jack Brown of New York and Richard Lee Brown of Atmore; four nephews, Derek Paul (Cathy) Larkin of Perdido, Shane (Sandra) Brown of Silver Hill, Joshua (Tamara) Law of Pensacola, Fla. and Brion Hillman of Atmore; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. today, Wed., July 5, 2017, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Wanda Hadley, Bro. Ricky Tedder and Dennis Law officiating.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore is in charge of all arrangements.

Raymond L. Zimmerman

Raymond L. Zimmerman, 85, of Sumner, Mich., passed away on Wed., June 28, 2017, at Butterworth Hospital, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

He was born in Alma, Mich. on Sept. 15, 1931, the son of Charles and Bertha (Fishburn) Zimmerman. He married Shirley Detwiler on Aug. 30, 1950, in Crystal, Mich. at her uncle LeRoy and aunt Lillian’s home. LeRoy officiated the marriage ceremony.

He grew up with 13 siblings on their family farm on Lincoln Road in Gratiot County, Mich. He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years, working many places, including John Deere. He could always be found tinkering with lawn mowers, boats, generators and anything that needed to be fixed. He could look at something and tell you what needed to be done to fix it. Ray and his brother in law, Vernon started a volunteer fire department in Walnut Hill, Fla. He enjoyed visiting with his friends, Ford vehicles and John Deere tractors. He loved his family very much. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; all of his siblings; two children, Pamela Kay Zimmerman and Karol Lee Rhodes; son in law, Donnie Donaldson; and great-grandson, Phoenix Applegate-Donaldson.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Zimmerman of Sumner; children, Connie Donaldson of Sumner, Zerelda (Jane) Zimmerman of Davison, Mich., Gilbert and Elizabeth Zimmerman of Hamilton and Rebecca Zimmerman of Riverdale, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held from Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, Mich., on July 1, 2017. Burial followed at Hayes Road Cemetery in Gratiot County. Visitation was held the day of the service on Saturday at the funeral home Memorials may be made to Gratiot County Veterans Affairs Ithaca, Mich. Jerry Wayne Bundy

Jerry Wayne Bundy, 72, born in Atmore and a resident of Bay Minette, died on Thurs., June 29, 2017, at North Baldwin Infirmary.

He was a certified public accountant at Bundy and Associates. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen Threet Bundy of Bay Minette; one son, Jerry W. (Jessica) Bundy of Newnan, Ga.; one daughter, Sandy Bundy Harrelson of Gulf Shores; two sisters, Marie Hines of Pell City and Elaine Mosley of Stapleton; and one grandson, Hunter Harrelson of Gulf Shores.

Funeral services were held July 3, 2017, from the First Baptist Church with Dr. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial will be today, Wed., July 5, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort.

The family received friends July 3 from First Baptist Church.

Although the family will accept flowers, they suggest memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 1628, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
