An inmate walked away from his assigned job location early this morning in Bay Minette, according the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Inmate Carl J. Mitchell, 34, weighs 180 pounds, is 5-foot-7, has black hair and hazel eyes.

He was wearing a light gray or white T-shirt with dark gray pants and black tennis shoes.

He was sentenced to 20 years for distribution of a controlled substance in March 2004.

Those who have any information concerning the whereabouts of Mitchell are asked to notify their local law enforcement agency, the facility from which the inmate escaped or called the ADOC at 1-800-831-8825.
