Mrs. Amanda Seals Brown departed this life on Aug. 4, 2017.

She was the youngest daughter of Ernest and Anna Seals, all natives of Clarke County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. Dr. George H. Brown and one grandson, Shawn M. Payne.

She served in many capacities in her Church, in her husband’s ministry, her community and the Monroe County School System where she was a teacher for 31 years. She started the kindergarten class in Monroe County from her home in the early 50’s. She loved working with young people of whom she was a mentor for many.

She is survived by three daughters, Marian Payne and LaVerne Bruce of Beatrice and Gwendolyn Rothchild of Atmore; an adopted son, Stanley (Crystal) Scott of Corona, Calif.; two grandsons, Reginald Payne and Damien Payne and three great grandsons

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 at the Savannah Missionary Baptist Church in Beatrice. The Rev. Isaiah Posey is the Pastor.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at the Savannah Baptist Church Cemetery on Turnbull Rd in Beatrice.
