The silence is deafening! No more do I awaken with the cacophony of singing birds. Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring” has come to Atmore….Since the fire and toxic release of sulfuric acid, song birds have declined my neighborhood, drastically…The push to stop another chemical plant in our area, some years ago has been rewarded. The concern then has been shown to be bonafide.

“Huge majorities of the American people….up to 90% in some polls….support strong environmental protections. We are the majority, so let’s come together to stop President Trump’s efforts to gut EPA finding and many of our core environmental safeguards”. (EDF) (Environmental Defense Fund)

Now it isn’t just those “ in other places who have experienced toxic chemical release. It is here, and our song birds, which are like the canary in coal mines”….have given us evidence of the crisis our natural environment. Climate warning not withstanding!
