Atmore courthouse can record deeds, mortgages
The Escambia County Courthouse’s satellite location in Atmore is now capable of recording deeds and mortgages.
Recently, the county commission gave its OK for the office to upgrade its technology to extend its recording capability.
Probate Judge Doug Agerton said right about $8,000 was spent on the upgrades, which include a scanner and label machine, and computer equipment.
“In the past, we couldn’t record deeds and documents, and now documents can be mailed here,” Agerton said.
In addition, a post office box has been set up at the satellite office. The address is P.O. Box 826, Atmore, AL 36504.
“Mortgages and deeds can now be dropped off,” Agerton said.
Agerton said while they were upgrading the technology in the courthouse in Brewton, he thought about doing the same thing in Atmore.
“We’re glad to be able to help the people here on the west end of the county,” Agerton said.
