Atmore man arrested for murder

The Atmore Police Department arrested an Atmore man for the murder of another on Sept. 13.

Chief Chuck Brooks said Ladarious Jamaal Crenshaw, 22, of Atmore, has been arrested and charged for the murder of Shawn Oneil Quarles.

According to Atmore Advance archives, Quarles, of Camden, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest by police officers on Ann Street. At the time of the offense, APD investigators were told by witnesses that Quarles was riding a bicycle to the store to purchase cigarettes when the offense occurred.
Brooks said Crenshaw was arrested at the Patterson Street Apartments.

“Atmore Police Investigators, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force assisted in the capture of Crenshaw,” he said.

Brooks said during the arrest, three other individuals were arrested for narcotics violations.

Deante D. Knight, 19, of Atmore, was arrested for possession of marijuana I; Kenneth Curry, 21, of Atmore, was arrested for possession of marijuana I and resisting arrest; and Demario E. Bowens, 27, of Atmore, was arrested for possession of marijuana I, giving false information to law enforcement and fugitive from justice due to a felony burglary warrant out of Florida.

All were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
