Lonnie Johnson Jr. (Findly), 69, died on Wed., Sept. 20, 2017, at the Eastern Shore Rehabilitation and Health Center in Daphne, following a long illness.
He was born on April 1, 1949, in Bay Minette, to the late Lonnie Johnson Sr. and Rannie Mae (Atchison) Johnson.
In his early years, Lonnie Johnson Jr. worked as a driver in the pulpwood industry. During this time, he married the late Mattie Mae (Williams) Johnson.
Later in life, he established his own business recycling scrap metal.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Mae Johnson; his parents, Lonnie Johnson Sr. and Evangelist Rannie Mae Johnson; and his sister, Rozenna Barnes.
He leaves to cherish his memories two children, his daughter, Beverly (Hayward) Williams; his son, Michael (Charetta) Williams; seven grandchildren, Latavis Thomas, Theresa Thomas, Chaney Thomas, Cedric Thomas, Nyeshia Thomas, Gary Curry Jr. and Raven Curry; two sisters, Missionary Bruxia Bolar and Larlia Hooks; two brothers, Bishop Charles (Dorothy) Johnson and Leroy (Jackie) Johnson; three aunts, Lula Atchison, Josephine Dees and Nell Brown; one uncle, William Brown; a close friend, Jeff Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., Sept. 30, 2017, at 11 a.m., at New Jerusalem Pentecostal Holiness Church, 42869 Nicholasville Rd., Bay Minette, AL 36507, Bishop Charles E. Johnson, pastor; and Evangelist Dorothy E. Johnson, co pastor.
Apostle Bruce Armstead will serve as the evangelist, with Mayberry Funeral Home directing.
Interment will be held at Crossroads Cemetery in Hurricane.
