Forecasters say it’s still too early to know system’s path

Tropical Depression 16 has formed in the southwestern Caribbean Sea, and forecasters said it’s too early to know the exact path it’s going to take, according to the National Weather Service.

The system is beginning to organize and there is a large spread in potential impact areas, according to Escambia County Director of Emergency Management David Adams.

Watches may be issued for a portion of the northern Gulf Coast sometime between Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, depending on the spread of the system,” Adams said in an email. “The best estimate on timing of any impacts would be late Saturday and into Sunday.”

Adams said it’s still too early to determine if the area will see significant impacts.

“Please review your emergency plans and monitor local radio and TV stations for local forecast changes and possible watches and/or warnings,” he said.
