The L.A. Bikers Toyz for Kidz auction held on Oct. 19 was a big success, organizers said.

Held every year to help raise money to buy presents for needy children in the area, the auction drew a big crowd and a lot of support.

Annie Powell, one of the auction’s organizers, said she wishes to thank those who donated and participated in the auction.

“This was the best year we’ve ever had,” Powell said. “We did better than last year.”

Totals as to how much the auction raised weren’t available when The Atmore Advance went to press Tuesday night.

Powell said the PWC Building was packed with people bidding on items built by her husband and those donated. Some 90 items were up for auction.

“A lot of people donated,” she said.

From this point forward, Powell’s daughter, Jody Jeter, will be working on selecting children from schools to donate too.

The annual Toyz for Kidz ride will be held Sat., Dec. 9.

Powell said the whole community pitched in in the effort to make the auction a success.

“People brought food, money; every little thing helped,” she said. “The whole community came together.”
