The Atmore Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on the morning of Oct. 30 at the Snappy Carwash on North Main Street, Chief Chuck Brooks said.

Brooks said a male and female were allegedly robbed at gunspoint at the carwash by two male suspects. Brooks said the APD has a person of interest they are looking into.

“The armed suspects forced their way into the victims’ car and instructed them to drive to an abandoned house on Mobile Street,” he said. “The suspects then escorted the male victim inside the abandoned house and searched him.”

Brooks said the suspects were unable to get anything of value so they went back to the car, and stole a backpack and wallet from the female.

“The suspects then fled the area on foot,” he said. “The victims were not injured.”

Brooks said the case is still under investigation.
