Atmore chamber executive director retiring

The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new executive director.

Sheryl Vickery, who served as the chamber’s executive director for 10 years, is retiring, according to a statement from the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.

The chamber’s board of directors released the following statement on Vickery’s retirement on Tuesday.

“The Atmore Area Chamber Board of Directors would like to officially announce Sheryl Vickery’s retirement from the Atmore Chamber of Commerce,” the statement said. “We are thankful for the many years of dedicated service and heartfelt love that Sheryl gave to our community during her tenure as the Atmore Chamber Executive Director. Sheryl’s knowledge of our community goes unmatched and we will always be grateful for her decision to return to the Atmore area. We are confident that Sheryl will continue to be successful in the years to come, whether it is complete retirement or if it is giving in to her adventurous spirt of trying new things and traveling to new places.

“Thank you Sheryl for all you gave to the Atmore Chamber of Commerce and the Atmore Community. You will forever be remembered and loved for your contributions and love for your community.”

At present, the chamber is accepting applications for the vacant position until Fri., Dec. 15.
