Jones wins Alabama U.S. Senate race

Doug Jones, a democrat, won the Alabama U.S. Senate election today, according to reports.
Jones garnered 49.68 percent of the vote statewide, according to the Alabama Secretary of State’s website.
Roy Moore, a republican, garnered 48.63 percent of the vote.
In Escambia County, Moore won comfortably with 57.22 percent of the vote, compared to Jones’ 41.78 percent. More than 35 percent of the county turned out to vote in today’s election.
This is the first time a democrat has been elected the senate seat in Alabama in 25 years.
