A juvenile is in jail on burglary charges after illegally entering an Atmore home on Dec. 5, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said at noon on the day of the alleged crime, the ECSO received a call to respond to 578 Atmosphere Rd., in reference to a burglary in process.
“The victim and homeowner came home and received information from his neighbor who alerted him to say that they saw someone crawling out of the window of the sister’s home,” Lambert said. “He went through the house and was unable to locate anyone, but found a window that was open.”
Lambert said when deputies responded to the scene, they found more information on the case and began a search of the area for the possible suspects.
“A juvenile was found in the near vicinity of the location and was taken into custody,” he said. “As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the juvenile is the one that made entry into the residence illegally.”
The juvenile was charged with burglary and was turned over to authorities at the Baldwin County Detention Center. Because of state law, the name and place of residence of the juvenile wasn’t released.
The case remains under investigation.
