Daisy McGhee Long

Mrs. Daisy McGhee Long, 86, passed away on Sat., Dec. 23, 2017, in Molino, Fla.

Mrs. Long was a native of Huxford, former resident of Pensacola, Fla. and has resided in Molino for the past 10.5 years. She was a past employee of Florida National Bank, accounting supervisor with Northwest Florida Blood Bank and retired accounting supervisor with the Pensacola Naval Hospital.

She was a member of Central Chapel Church.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, James W. “J.W.” Long and Louis Ray Sims; and a son, Dale Sims.

She is survived by one son, Winfred (Charlotte) Sims of Molino; one daughter, Patsy F. (Robert) Carter of Panama City, Fla.; two step-sons, Wayne (Caroline) Long of Christian Home, Fla. and James R. “Ronnie” Long of Pensacola; one brother, James A. McGhee of Seminole; two sisters, Eunice Pierce of Beulah, Fla. and Eloise Stewart of Rabun; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today, Wed., Dec. 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Mrs. Eloise Stewart officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation was Dec. 26 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Sims, Chad Sims, Rob Carter, Jeff Carter, Michael Sims, Jordan Carter, Zachary Sims and Taylor Sims.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore is in charge of all arrangements.

 

Aquilla Bradford

The funeral service for Mr. Aquilla Bradford, 67, of Atmore, will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel LLC.

Bradford answered the Master’s Call on Sun., Dec. 24, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

 

John Edward Brown

The funeral service for Mr. John Edward Brown of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Atmore, will be held this Sat., Dec. 30, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center with Overseer Darryl North, pastor, officiating.

Inhumation will be in Mt. Shiloh Cemetery in Nokomis with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

 

Preston Robbins Neuhard

Preston Robbins Neuhard, 88, of Stafford Va., passed away on Dec. 22, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Neuhard was originally from Williamsport, Penn., and the son of Grover and Gladys Neuhard.

The longtime Stafford resident graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile with a bachelor’s degree, and had a successful career as an accountant and comptroller. Preston was an Air Force Veteran who served during the Berlin Airlift.

He enjoyed beekeeping as a hobby. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Preston is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances (Shehan); a son, Michael Neuhard (Jill); a daughter, Belinda Tierney (Al); five grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan and Jennifer Neuhard, Ransom and Nicholas Tierney; and a sister, Virginia Crust.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., this Sat., Dec. 30, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 161 Embrey Mill Road, Stafford, VA 22554.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ebenezer UMC.
