Atmore area placed under winter weather advisory

Bundle up and be safe.

There is a chance wintry mix and some snow will fall on Atmore tomorrow night and into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The low tonight is 31 degrees. The high tomorrow is slated to be 52 degrees with a low of 20.

According to the NWS, a chance of rain, snow and sleet will fall before 9 p.m. on Tuesday. There is also a chance of snow between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Wind chill values will be between 10 and 15 with a north wind blowing between 10 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

According to the Alabama EMA office, the rain turning into sleet and snow, and melting again, provides for unsafe driving conditions. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads during the time period unless it’s an emergency.

The high on Wednesday is slated to be 37 degrees with a low of 16 that night.
