Soon, Atmore residents will be able to cool down at the city’s newest eatery — 30 Below Ice Cream.
At present, the new ice cream parlor is undergoing construction, but Owner Shawn Rounsavall said he’s planning on opening in May.
“We haven’t had one of these in a long time,” Rounsavall said inside of the former Cinderella’s Dress Shop and Edgars store. “I’ve been mulling this over for a year, and just decided to pull this together.
“I wanted to bring a little old school back to Atmore,” he said.
Rounsavall said the ice cream is thai rolled ice cream, or Tai Fried ice cream. He said the employees will roll the ice cream out on a stainless steel plate that reaches 30 below, and will then add toppings before rolling the ice cream up for customers.
Rounsavall said there will be 24 flavors of Hershey’s Premium Ice Cream available. Additionally, milk shakes, sundaes and splits, along with cookies, are on the menu.
“We’ll have anything we can make with ice cream,” he said.
Rounsavall said the parlor’s name is based off of the Escambia County license plate number “30.”
He said he plans on being open seven days a week, however, is still working on hours of operation.
The ice cream parlor will be located next door from the post office in downtown Atmore.
