Reynolds announces commission candidacy

Atmore native Karean Reynolds is running for District 5 seat of the Escambia County Commission.

Reynolds joined the military before graduating from Escambia County High School in 2001. He attended Troy University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2007.

Reynolds has been a member of the Escambia County Children’s Policy Council since 2013. He is responsible for developing, implementing and supervising a variety of programs geared toward helping the youth overcome obstacles and break barriers.

He is also responsible for seeking and applying for state and federal grants, which help support these programs.

He continued his studies at Birmingham School of Law, receiving his doctorate in May 2017.

Reynolds passed the Alabama Bar in July 2017.

Reynolds has served in the Army National Guard for 17 years, and has achieved the rank of major.

He is a two-time combat veteran, having served both in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Since returning to the states, in addition to his educational pursuits, Reynolds is very active in the community.

Reynolds said he is passionate about his involvement with community youth, particularly in regard to identifying the needs of today’s troubled youth, and developing strategies to address complex issues.

Reynolds said he understand the needs of this county and will work hard to address the issues affecting our communities.

Reynolds will be holding a campaign kick off and voters registration event with live music tonight at 6 Houston Avery Park in Atmore.
