Tribal election is June 2

The Poarch Creek Indians 2018 Tribal Council election will be held on Sat., June 2, at the Pickrell House on the Pow Wow Grounds, according to the Poarch Creek Indians’ website.
The election will be held from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., and its purpose is to elect a Tribal vice chairman, two at-large Tribal council members for three-year terms and to consider amending Article 1, Section 1 (B)(3) of the Tribal Constitution to revise the provisions of membership eligibility in order to open the roll for a limited period.
Walk-in voting begins on Mon., May 21, and lasts until Fri., June 1, 2018. From May 21-26, voting will be held from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.; from May 29 to June 1, voting will be held from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Requests for absentee ballots must be received by the election board no later than close of business on May 22, and the ballots must be received by the election board no later than June 1 at 5 p.m.
Robbie McGhee, the vice chairman and incumbent, is up with Amy Bryan, Carrie McGhee Martin, James T. (Tim) Martin and Chris Woolley.
On the at large positions, Incumbents Sandy Hollinger and Keith Martin are up with Candace Fayard, Chance Jackson, Steven Ledkins, Wesley Manning, Kevin McGhee, John O’Barr and Tebyl Tullis Presley.
Results will be posted at the Pickrell House, posted on the Tribe’s web site and social media sites, and will be printed in the July issue of the Poarch Creek News.
