Alice B. Stacey

Alice B. Stacey, 96, of Atmore, passed away on Fri., May 4, 2018, in Atmore.

She was retired from First National Bank of Atmore, born on Feb.1, 1922,  in Robinsonville to the late Robert and Annie Higdon Kearley. She was a member of the First Baptist of Atmore.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Julian Kearley, Alva Quarles, Aubrey Kearley and Evelyn Wood.

Survivors are two sons, Wayne (Donna) Stacey of Gulf Shores and Joseph Burl (Kim) Stacey of Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on May 7, 2018 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Family received friends May 7, 2018, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Amity Taiwan McBride

Amity was born to Patricia McBride on Nov. 25, 1973, in Escambia County, Ala. in Atmore.

Often he sends no summons before him, but floats unseen on the breeze. Yes, death comes on hushed footsteps to all; and claims us at the appointed time. Thus, it came for our dearly beloved Amity Taiwan McBride on May 1, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Christopher Beasley; and grandmother, Corine Beasley.

She completed kindergarten through 12th grades in the Escambia County School System; and was a proud 1992 graduate. She completed hours of higher education at Faulkner State Community in Bay Minette. She earned an associate’s degree with honors in 1997 from Reid State Technical College in Evergreen.

She enjoyed successful employment at several offices, the last of which was the PCI Gaming Call Center in Atmore. Amity accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and later joined the Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder Edgar Lee McCarthy.

Amity was a devoted mother for her two beautiful daughters, who she leaves to cherish her memories, Anaya Montgomery and Aubrianna Williams; a devoted mother, Patricia McBride; grandmother, Dorothy McBride; four sisters, Quanah McBride, Michell (Mickey) McMillian, Acquanetta Longmire and Tanika Lee; grandmother, Dorothy McBride; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Special friends include Tracey Dailey Yeldell, Gail Jefferson Malone, Krystal Jefferson Powers, Kim Powers, Twan Jackson, PCI Staff and co workers.

Pall bearers are Cordaro McBride, Reginald Johnson, Jonathon Chambers, Andre` Riley, Dereke Martin and Micky McMillian.

Flower bearers include the class of 1992.

Inhumation service was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore on May 8.

 

Eula B. White Sullivan

Eula B. White Sullivan, 78, of Atmore passed away on Thurs., May 3, 2018, after an extended illness.

She was a longtime member, volunteer and employee of The Sail Center of Atmore.

She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and attended Brooks Memorial Baptist Church. She loved God, people, her children and grandchildren.

Her strong faith and positive attitude were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillian Scott White; and a dear sister in law, Ann White.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne (Tracy) Sullivan of Flomaton and

Larry (Donna) Sullivan of Dothan; daughter, Kathy (Mike) Gilbert of Fountain, Fla.; grandchildren, Claire and Kate Sullivan of Dothan; brothers, John White Jr., Lavon “Whitey” (Shirley) White and Lee Ander (Linda) White, all of Century, Fla. and Bob H. (Veroncia) White of Bay Minette; and many nieces, nephews and longtime friend and companion, Ray Fowler.

Services were held on May 7, 2018, from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Earl Harrison officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Daniel Kelley, Alton White, David Burkett, Jonathan Burkett, Don Smith and Danny Woodham.

Family received friends May 6, 2018 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Mearlene Bishop

Mearlene Bishop, 81, of Atmore passed away on Sun., May 6, 2018, in Atmore.

She was a seamstress at Vanity Fair Mills, born in Albertville on Sept. 25, 1936 to the late Jesse M. and Fairy Traylor Stephenson. She was a member of The Church of The Living God.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, of 42 years, Fred L. Bishop; brother, Billy Traylor; and sister, Willa Dean Pendergrass.

Survivors are two sons, Jesse Watson (Vicki) Bishop of Perdido and Rex L. (Michelle) Bishop of Loxley; two daughters, Alice Hilton of Loxley and Kathryn (Frank) Gossett of Union Springs; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wed., May 9, 2018, from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Earl Harrison and Bro. Joe Welch officiating. Interment will follow in Perdido Baptist Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Derek Smith, Justin Bishop, Anthony Kitts, Brandon Richardson and Bo Bishop.

Family received friends May 8, 2018 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral  Home.

Shirley Calloway Waters

Mrs. Shirley Calloway Waters, 63, passed away on Sun., April 29, 2018, at her home in Atmore.

She was a native of Century, Fla., where she spent most of her life and has resided in Atmore for the past 12 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a retired agent with Liberty National and was of the Independent Baptist Faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lila Calloway; and a son, David Waters.

She is survived by husband of 47 years, Donnie Waters of Atmore; two daughters, Jennifer Waters of Pensacola, Fla. and Jessie (Glenn) Glidwell of Flomaton; three brothers, Floyd (Jackie) Calloway of Century, Fla., Alton (Red) Calloway of Flomaton and Freddie (Tammy) Calloway of Century; two sisters, Sharon (Barney) Jones of Century and Renee (Ronnie) Marshall of Atmore; nine grandchildren; one very dear friend, Regina Parsons of Jasper; and a number of friends, relatives and other loved ones.

Funeral services were held on May 4, 2018 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Johnson, the Rev. Mike Harper and the Rev. Durvin Spears officiating.

Burial followed at the Beulah Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation was held May 3, 2018, at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ricky Cofield, Timbo Cofield, Bubba Hammac, Joe Brown, Kent Calloway and Blake Calloway.
