A Satsuma man, who was an Army National Guardsman, died in a single-vehicle wreck this morning on Interstate 65, 6 miles north of Atmore, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Sgt. Derek Gessner said the crash occurred at 9:43 a.m., and Army National Guardsman John Wesley Wardrop, 38, was killed when the 2009 military Humvee he was driving left the roadway and overturned at the 63.7 mile marker.

Gessner said Wardrop was pronounced dead on scene, and a passenger, Justin Cecil McCollough, 25, of Grand Bay, was transported to D.W. McMillian Hospital.
