Flomaton 10Us force winner-take-all game at district tourney

Flomaton’s 10U Cal Ripken All-Stars forced a winner-take-all game with Jay, Fla. after winning a close 10-8 contest on Monday during the District 7 tournament in Atmore.

Braden Nall pitched the closing inning and got some needed insurance with a put out at second base for the second out in the sixth inning. With that assurance, Nall struck the last batter out of the game with two on. He fought back with two on and one out in the same frame.

What turned the tide for Flomaton took place in the bottom of the fifth. Jay had the bases loaded, and the Canes got two key ground outs to end the inning.

The deciding game was played Tuesday night, and wasn’t complete as of press time.

The Canes strutted out to a 7-1 lead after the first inning and sate comfortable until Jay fought back, tacking on two runs in the third and five runs in the fourth to keep them honest.

Flomaton scored one run in the top of the fifth inning to lead 10-8 when Riley Harrison hit an RBI single to score Gavin Rodgers, who reached on a single.

Jay made its come back in the fourth with a couple walks with the bases loaded, and two singles from McCantel and Patrick.

Flomaton fought its way back from the loser’s bracket to force the re-match with Jay (after losing 12-2 on Sunday).

Flomaton 9, NWE 2 (in 3 innings)

Because of a pitching rule, the game was called in the third inning.

With the win, Flomaton advanced to the winner’s bracket championship against Jay.

Flomaton scored four runs in the first, two runs in the second and three runs in the third inning.

Nall went 1-for-3 with two runs; Lee Steele went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double; Harrison went 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs; Luke Fore went 1-for-2 with a double; Easton Himes went 1-for-1 with a double; and Easten Odom and  Connor Smith had a single each.

NWE’s Stabler had a single in the loss.

NWE 16, Atmore 4

NWE scored 13 unanswered runs to pull away in the win.

Atmore shot out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning.

NWE tacked on 12 runs in the third inning during the win on Sunday.

Charlie Waters went 3-for-3 with three singles and three runs; Taylor Curtis, Bryce Stabler, Jackson Bridges, Isaiah Smoker, Colby Pugh and Jackson Simmons had one hit each.

Atmore’s DeAndre Hooks went 1-for-2 with a single and a run; Kamden Martin went 2-for-2 with two singles; and Bradley Spann went 1-for-2 with a single.

Jay 12, Flomaton 2

Jay scored two runs each in the first, fourth and fifth innings; five runs in the second; four runs in the third; and one run in the fourth inning during the win.

Jay’s Norris went 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs; Partrick went 1-for-3 with a double; Dales went 3-for-3 with a triple; and Jordan had a hit.

Harrison went 3-for-3 with a double to lead Flomaton; Braxton Jernigan had a single; Steele had a single; Himes had a triple; and Rogers had a double in the loss.

NWE 6, Monroe 5

NWE’s Colby Pugh hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the third inning to help lead the Florida team to victory on Saturday.

NWE scored one run in the second inning and added two runs in the fifth after a three-run third.

Monroe scored one run in the first and third innings, and three in the fourth.

Smoker and Pugh had two hits each; Jayden White had a home run; and Charlie Waters and Jackson Simmons had one hit each for NWE.

Brody Watson went 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs; Bryce Ward had one hit; Jayce Pugh had a hit; and Mattox Dailey went 3-for-3 to lead Monroe.

Jay 13, Atmore 2

Harrison went 2-for-3; Norris went 2-for-2; Godwin went 2-for-2; Marcantel, Dales and Jordan had one hit each to lead Jay.

Jay scored 11 runs in the second inning in the win.

Atmore scored one run each in the the second and fourth innings.

Atmore’s Jay Robinson went 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs; Kamden Martin went 1-for-2; and Gabe Hooks went 1-for-2.

Flomaton 15,

Monroe 4

Flomaton scored 10 runs in the fourth inning, Steele went 2-for-3 with two runs, Colton Rollin went 2-for-4 with a triple, Odom and Smith had one hit each.

Monroe scored three runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth.

Atmore 9, NWE 8

Atmore scored three runs in the fifth inning to battle back from a 5-4 deficit.

Ronta Watson went 1-for-3 with a triple and two runs; Hooks went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run; Marrion Hooks went 3-for-3 with three runs; D. Hooks went 2-for-4; and Hayden Coley went 1-for-3 to lead Atmore.

NWE’s Benjamin Landis went 2-for-4 with two runs; Bridges had a hit; Pugh had a hit; Simmons had a hit; and Stabler had a hit.
