Robert Sanders-Shoemore

Life began for Robert Shoemore on Nov. 8, 1941, in Leroy, to the late Ernestine (Henry) Sanders and Ike Shoemore.

Robert accepted Christ at an early age, where he then joined St. Joe Missionary Baptist Church in Little River.

Robert was united in holy matrimony to the late Arthurine Robbins Shoemore, where they resided in Bay Minette, and from this union, six children were born.

Robert later in life moved to Atmore, and attended Great Mt. Triumph Baptist Church.

Robert departed this life on Wed., June 13, 2018, at Oakwood in Bay Minette.

Robert was preceded in death by a loving father and mother; wife; daughter, Drusilla Robbins; two sons, Derrick “Boomer” Shoemore and Samuel Lee Dixon Sr.; grandson, Cory Shoemore; seven sisters; and five brothers.

His loving memory will live on in the hearts of his four children; devoted daughter, Terri Robbins of Douglasville, Ga., Pamela Shoemore and Angela Shoemore, both of Bay Minette; son, Darren Shoemore of Bay Minette; six grandchildren, Kendrick (Tanesha) Robbins of Powder Springs, Ga., Vernard (Cam) Robbins of Powder Springs, Kristen Hooks, Lashae “Pumpkin,” Courtney, Jardarius Shoemore and Samuel Dixon Jr., all of Bay Minette; 12 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Bernice Bradley, Carolyn Sanders, Kathy (Johnny) Palmer, all of Bay Minette, Alice Arnold of Greenville, S.C. and Wesley Jean (TT) Shoemore of Jacksonville, N.C.; seven brothers, Roy (Christine) Sanders of Atmore, Claude (Wanda) Sanders, Wilmor Sanders, Garland Sanders, all of Bay Minette, Roosevelt Sanders of Pensacola, Fla., Abe (Fannie) Shoemore, Clifton (Voyica) Shoemore, both of Uriah, Charles Shoemore of Pensacola and Ronnie Shoemore of Rhode Island, N.Y.; son in law, Ernest Hooks of Bay Minette; and a host of aunts, uncles, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, family and friends. And a special friend, Bessie Mae Tanner.

Funeral services were held on Tues., June 19, 2018, at Union Baptist Church in Bay Minette. Pastor Jimmie L. Bennett officiated, and the Rev. D.L. Boykin was the pastor.

Pallbearers included Kendrick Robbins, Shaun Sanders, Clifford Shoemore Jr., Vernard Robbins, Zachary Sanders, Samuel Dixon Jr. and Eddie O’Neil Shoemore.

Interment was held in Mutual Aid Cemetery in Bay Minette, and Mayberry Funeral Home and Cremation Services was in charge of arrangements.

 

Merline Rabb

Ms. Merline Rabb, 78, of Enfield, Conn., formerly of Atmore, answered the master’s call on Fri., June 15, 2018, in Connecticut.

A native of Atmore, Ms. Rabb has lived in Connecticut since 1959. She retired from Stanadyne Manufacturing in Windsor, Conn. in 1981. She had a desire to help others and that lead her to be part of Community Partners in Action in Hartford, Conn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Fannie (Thames) Rabb; siblings, David  Rabb Jr., Henry C. Rabb, R.S. Rabb, R.C. Rabb, Gloria C. Witter and Earline Rabb.

Those left to cherish memories of her life are two sons, Michael (Kerri) Rabb of Brentwood, Tenn. and Norris (Debra) Rabb of Stamford, Conn.; two daughters, Patricia Rabb-Silva of Bloomfield, Conn. and Sheila Rabb Spicer of Enfield, Conn.; a brother, Willie (Hattie) Rabb of Hartford; a sister, Veronica Rabb of Atlanta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held this Fri., June 29, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church (Freemanville Community), where the Rev. Gary Bryant will be pastor. Inhumation will be in the Pierce, Rabb and Montgomery Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

 

Bernard Johnson

Mr. Bernard Johnson, a resident of Bay Minette, passed away on Mon., June 25, 2018.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Mayberry Funeral Home of Atmore.

 

Charles Keevin Wiggins

Charles Keevin Wiggins, 58, of Pensacola, died on Wed., June 13, 2018, in Pensacola, Fla.

Visitation was June 23 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, 1322 S. Main St., in Atmore. Internment will follow at Bratt Godwin Cemetery. Arrangements were by Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Keevin was born in Atmore to Audeen Godwin and Leonard Kent Wiggins on June 6, 1960. He graduated from Ernest Ward High School in Walnut Hill, Fla.

After attending Auburn University, he worked as a realtor in Alabama and Florida for 20 plus years, spending several years with Ricky Wiggins, a builder.

Keevin enjoyed helping others find their dream home and spending quality time with family and friends. He liked riding his bike on Santa Rosa Island and appreciating nature. His travels took him from Hawaii to Canada and Europe. He enjoyed life by hiking and skiing in Montana, taking a canoe ride on Prince Edward Island or a local river, watching family play sports–basketball and lacrosse–plus cooking fresh corn, butterbeans and sliced tomatoes with cornbread on the side.

Together with an uncle, he restored a 1965 Mustang convertible. He loved working with his hands, and at the end of the day playing the piano or reading a good book.

Keevin is preceded in death by his parents, Audeen and Leonard; and grandparents, Grace and Preston Wiggins, Ada Godwin and Irving Godwin.

Keevin is survived by a sister, LaJuana W. Porter, Houston, Texas; nephew, Kyle R. Porter, Houston; nieces, Kaitlin L. Porter of Annapolis, Md., Amy E. Porter of Austin, Texas and Melissa P. Hovey of Charlotte, N.C.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Dora Ann Rolin

Mrs. Dora Ann Rolin, 88, passed away on Fri., June 22, 2018, in Century, Fla.

She was a native of Grove Hill, lived in Century, Fla. most of her life and was a long time resident of Poarch. She was a member of the Poplar Dell Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Grady Rolin; two sons, Glenn Rolin and Gilbert Rolin; and one daughter, Gloria Jean Carnley.

She is survived by one son, Gregory (Laura Ann) Rolin of Poarch; two daughters, Glenda Ann Walston of Century and Grace Marie (Bill) Stuckey of Atmore; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on June 26, 2018, from the Poplar Dell Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Stuckey and the Rev. Mitch Herring officiating.

Burial followed at the Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.

Visitation was held June 25, 2018, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Justin Rolin, Christopher Rolin, James Brazwell, Cody Harmin, Jake Woods and Gregory Rolin.

Honorary pallbearer was Rowdy Daw.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC was in charge of all arrangements.

 

Michael Fox

Mr. Michael “Mike” Fox, 53, passed away on Thurs., June 21, 2018, at his home in Crossroads.

He was a native of Bay Springs, Fla. and has resided in Crossroads for the past 19 years. He was of the Protestant Faith.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frankie and Ruby Lewis; and one uncle, Rodger Lewis.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Ronnie Faulk of Walnut Hill; one son, Michael R. Fox of Bay Minette; one daughter, Felicia Rolin of Bay Minette; one brother, Jeffrey Fox of Atmore; one sister, Sandy and Chris Brown of Oak Grove, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 24, 2018, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Mr. Ronnie Faulk officiating.

Burial followed at the Bay Springs Cemetery.

Visitation was held June 24, 2018 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Chris Brown, Dale Brown, Dawson Brown, Frankie Nicholson, Jason Nicholson and Kevin Nicholson.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the animal shelters.

Steven Ray Bailey

Mr. Steven Ray Bailey, 34, passed away on Sat., June 16, 2018, in Milton, Fla.

He was a native of North Charleston, S.C., former resident of Century, Fla., where he lived 30 years and has resided in Milton, Fla. for the past three-and-a-half years. He was on the CERT team with the Florida Department of Corrections.

He was a 2002 graduate of Northview High School, 2011 (associate’s degree) graduate of Pensacola State College and 2014 (bachelor’s degree) graduate of University of West Florida. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Afghanistan from Feb. 9, 2004 to Feb. 16, 2005.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sammie and Penny Garner, George Robert Bailey and Erin Davis Brown.

Survivors include his parents, Robert E. and Linda G. Bailey of Century; fiancé, Brittany Merchant of Milton, Fla.; one brother, Joshua Bailey of Century; two uncles, Robert Garner of Fairmont, W.V. and Gledon Ray Bailey of Atmore; and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held June 22, 2018, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Harper officiating.

Visitation was held June 21, 2018, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Joshua Bailey, James Lambert, Jonathan Johnson, Jesse Moore, Justin Ellis, Martin Konzelman, Keith McCartt and Billy Dukes.

Honorary pallbearers were the Santa Rosa CI CERT Team.
