The Escambia County School System will conduct a drill on July 13 to check the reliability of communication systems in the event of a real emergency, school officials announced recently.

Assistant Superintendent Beth Drew said the coordinated effort is with local emergency responders.

“On that day, parents of students enrolled in Atmore schools will receive a school cast message indicating a test of our communication systems,” she said. “Parents will be instructed in the message that this is only a drill and they are not to come/contact the school.”
