Chiefs to ride momentum to Blountstown

Northview is going to take its momentum from last week’s win over South Walton into this week’s battle against Blountstown on the road.
The Chiefs defeated South Walton 14-7 in a defensive battle. NHS sealed the win with a late interception.
This week, head football coach Derek Marshman said they are fortunate to have Blountstown on the schedule.
“They’re going to be a great measuring stick to see where we’re at,” Marshman said. “If you want to beat the best, you’ve got to play the best and beat the best.”
Marshman said BHS played, and lost, in the state championship last season.
When asked what makes BHS so good, Marshman said it’s a myriad of things.
“They’ve got a new head coach this year,” he said. “He was a coach that was on their staff. They’re going to be well coached. They don’t hurt themselves. They’re pretty well disciplined.
“They’ve got athletes all over the field,” he said. “Their athletes are special.”
Marshman said BHS players play what he calls finesse football.
“What they do offensively is challenge you, and they will run the option game at you,” he said. “They give different looks.”
Defensively, BHS runs out of a 5-2 set, he said.
“They’ll try to take the run game away,” he said.
Given that the Chiefs will be riding their defensive momentum into this week’s game, Blountstown’s offense will present itself as different to the Bratt, Fla. team, Marshman said when asked about whether it’s important to play fundamental defense.
“We should be able to hold our own,” he said. “They got a quarterback that reads it so well. Can we carry the momentum over from last week defensively?”
Like Marshman said, this game is going to be a great opportunity for the Chiefs.
“They embarrassed us last year in Bratt,” he said. “It’s a great opportunity for our kids to continue our momentum from last week, and see where we’re at against one of the best teams in the state.”
Kick in Blountstown is at 7 p.m.
