Northview dominated in the third quarter and pulled away to beat Holmes County 26-20 tonight in Bratt.

The Chiefs trailed 13-6 at halftime after having a bunch of big plays negated by penalties in the first half, NHS head football coach Derek Marshman said.

“We came down and dominated the third quarter,” he said. “We had a really good drive. The defense kept getting three and outs.”
Marshman said the Chiefs were led by Jayden Jackson, who scored two touchdowns. Jackson played in his first game since he was injured earlier this season.

NHS led 20-13 in the fourth quarter.

Marshman said a penalty by the Chiefs gave the Blue Devils a crucial first down, which led to a third-down touchdown completion to tie the game at 20-all.

Jackson then took the ball 80 yards for a score.

After the score, the Chiefs’ defense stood tall and the offense got enough first downs to ice the game, Marshman said.

The win was big for Northview, the coach said.
“It was huge for us heading into the bye week,” Marshman said. “We’re 3-2 now. We’re in a good position in the region. We’re headed in the right direction.”

The Chiefs are back in action on Oct. 5 at home against Jay for homecoming. Jay lost 30-20 to Escambia Academy tonight.
