EA to visit Ft. Dale

Escambia Academy is facing a dangerous Fort Dale team this week as the Cougars end their regular-season run in Greenville.
The Eagles, an AISA Class 3A team, are 2-7 on the season and will not be making an appearance in the playoffs this year. The last time both met was in 2015, a 34-7 victory for EA.
Two weeks ago, EA (7-2) won the Class 2A, Region 2 title with a win over South Choctaw. The Cougars earned the right to host the first two rounds of the playoffs.
“To me, they are a dangerous team because they’re not in the playoffs,” EA head football coach Hugh Fountain said. “They’ve always been in the playoffs. They’re 3A, so they’ve played a lot of bigger schools. It’s the last game of the season for them.”
Fountain said the Eagles have a pretty good quarterback and running back combination.
He said preparation for this week’s game will be the same as any other week.
“We’re just going to go there and play our style of football,” he said. “With most of your other games, kind of like last week, Lowndes did some things we haven’t seen all year, so you have to adjust. They had nothing to lose, too.
“We were prepared for it, but we have to understand that this team is like the last team — they have nothing to lose,” he said.
