Gold’s BBQ Owner Chef Gold looked around Panama City, Fla. on a recent trip and decided he needed to do something.

Gold was visiting his brother, Raymond, on Mon., Oct. 8, after Hurricane Michael ravaged the area.

While there, Gold cooked for a clean up crew at a hotel.

When he returned from his journey, Gold and Chef Keysha Gonzalez began to collect needed items for aid. They said they want to get as much of the community involved in the effort, and are aiming to fill a Gold’s BBQ delivery van with the items.

Gold said they’re planning on delivering the goods on Mon., Nov. 5, to Panama City.

Additionally, he said he’s going to cook for those who are in need in the area.

“I just decided that we were going to do this,” he said.

Gonzalez said they’re taking it upon themselves to lend aid to the affected area in Florida.

Gold said he’s bringing a charcoal starter and deep fryer for the trip next week.

Other local efforts include Escambia County Middle School gathering donated items for those who were in Hurricane Michael’s path.

Hawkeye Lawncare LLC hauled a trailer full of the items from ECMS on Oct. 28 to an affected area in Florida.
