FHS 3rd round bound

Flomaton quarterback Daquan Johnson rushed for 298 yards on 28 carries and scored three touchdowns in the Hurricanes’ 32-7 victory over Winfield in the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs.

Dashun Odom added 15 tackles to lead the defense. Jonathan Jones had nine tackles, Evan Tatum had 11 tackles and Bailey Bass had eight tackles.

Devonte Bradley rushed for 75 yards on 13 carries.

Last week, Pike County defeated Thomasville 21-14. FHS defeated THS 43-42 Oct. 19.

This is the first time since 2007 since the Bulldogs have reached the third round. The last time the Hurricanes made it to the third round was in 2015 as a Class 2A school.

Pike County quarterback Jaidyn Wilson scored two touchdowns for the Bulldogs last week.

Turnovers played a big factor in the second half for the Bulldogs. Both Darrick Myhand and Quay Walker picked up an interception late in the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter. Myhand also recovered a fumble at midfield with 5 minutes remaining in the game, acccording to the Troy Messenger.
