FHS to play Providence Christian in state semifinals next Friday

Flomaton’s Daquan Johnson accounted for two touchdowns in the Hurricane’s 12-10 victory over Pike County in the AHSAA’s Class 3A quarterfinals Friday night.

Johnson rushed 191 yards on 27 carries and scored one touchdown on the ground, and went 4-for-8 for 39 yards and a score in the air.

With the win, FHS advances to the state semifinals, where it will face Providence Christian at home. This is the first time in school history that FHS has held a semifinal game in Hurricane Territory.

Dashun Odom had nine carries for 118 yards to contribute for the Hurricanes.

Quincie McCall had one reception for 12 yards and a score during the game.

Odom led the defense with 16 tackles; Johnson added 12; Jonathan Jones had nine tackles; Bailey Bass and Rhett Coon had eight tackles each.

Additionally, Odom had two interceptions, McCall had one interception and Bass caused and recovered a fumble in the game on Friday.
