Chamber submits board nominees

The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s nominating committee recommended to the chamber board a list of nominees to be elected as directors of the chamber effective Jan. 1, 2019, according to officials.
The following were elected with specific term length:
• Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2019 — Hope Lassiter, Atmore Public Library; Erin Hollingsworth, Atmore Country Club; and Ruthie Stevens, Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union
• Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2020 — Hank Lee, DVM at Lee Clinic; Erin Hankins, Walmart; and Shapard Marks, Swift Lumber
• Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2021 — John Stallworth, Atmore Police Department; AJ Beachy, Hawkeye Lawncare; Sandy Helton, Vin-Tiques; and Jodi James, Farmers Home FurnitureAdditionally, a slate of directors at large were also nominated. They are the following:
• Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2019 — Megan L. Young, Poarch Creek Indians liaison; Stephanie Rolin, industrial liaison; Robbie Cale, healthcare liaison; Shawn Rounsavall, retail liaison; and Sarah Frances Thompson, restaurant liaison.
According to chamber by laws, members in good standing have the right to petition alternative candidates. Should a member in good-standing wish to exercise this option please be advised that additional names of candidates for directors and/or directors at large can be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signature of at least five (5) qualified members of the chamber. A petition shall be filed with the nominating committee (via delivery to the chamber office) within 10 calendar days by (Thursday, December 13) after notification has been given of names of those duly nominated. The determination of the nominating committee as to the legality of the petition shall be final.
If no petition is forthcoming, the nominated slate of candidates shall be determined to be the new directors and/or directors at large of the chamber. If there is a petition, the membership shall vote by approved communication and the candidates receiving the greatest number of votes will be the new directors and/or directors at large.
